Allowing someone to edit your work is very personal and it’s important to find an editor with whom you are comfortable. We have long years of subediting experience behind us. It’s not a very glamorous job but it’s the subeditor who slogs away in the trenches while her boss is out having drinks with clients.

Sometimes words are misspelled or grammar is used incorrectly. Other times there may be bad sentence structure, mixed metaphors and a prevalence of tired clichés etc.

Sometimes there are structural problems that have to do with the flow of paragraphs, chapters or entire books. All that said, literature is our first love and we recognise and respect many different writing styles and don’t go changing things around to make them the way I think they should.

Between R80 and R120 per page, A4 typed in Times New Roman, 12 point, single spaced. The rate varies with the time required to do the work, so depends on how dense the copy is and the level of editing required.
